Bob, Interesting that you mentioned about running the car from a gas can. I did that initially when I thought that he gas line was clogged. It ran well for a couple of months, when the weather got cold I ran it less in the fall, then only turned it over New Year's eve. That is when the problem was '...

Thanks Bob for the insight. I have been using starting fluid for the extra kick it needs to turn over. The choke will not stay completely closed...that is another weekend or two. Valve hanging

I have a '49 w/ a flathead 6. It was dfficult to start. I thought that the timing was off. Adjusted that inorder to start the car. It ran very rough for a few minutes, then very smooth for a couple of minutes, then evtremely rough. It sounded like either an exhaust valve was hanging open or the lift...

Starter

Lately I have noticed that the bendix in the starter is disengaging...not allowing the starter to completely turn over the engine before it starts.
What is the easiest way to remove the top bolt given that it is hidden?
