Re: Valve hanging

I have used the water tip several times over the years. I use a spray bottle after the engine is warmed up. This may help get rid of some carbon deposits, but not help with a sticky valve.

good luck,

Re: Valve hanging

A compression check is an excellent starting point. My #1 cylinder is down about 5%. The rest are about the same. When I first got my 49, I changed all the fluids, disconnected the gas line, and ran a gas line from a gallon can. With a gallon of high test and a little gas treatment, I new that would...

Re: Valve hanging

8) I have a similar set up with my 49. I found that if a spray a little gas in the carb it starts quick, but stalls right away. I spray a little gas, and close the choke all the way, it starts and runs good. I have to keep the choke closed most of the way for some time before it will run good. Some ...

Parking Brake

My parking brake lining is almost gone. What kind of material could be used to replace the lining? It seems to be riveted on with regular brakes shoe rivets. :P thanks, Bob

Re: battery

my battery cables have a very large diameter. 12 volt cables are not heavy enough to carry the amps of a 6 volt system.

brake shoes

My 49 shoes looked a little worn so I purchased a complete set on ebay. Ebay has more shoes coming up for auction if any one is in the need. I also purchased wheel cylinder repair kit on ebay. good luck, Bob

Re: Oil Filters

Napa store is near me. I will see what they have or can get. I went to the farm store again today. Found a filter, Fram C-3, that is right size for my plymouth.

thanks,

Bob

Re: Hop-Ups for Flatheads

If you do not want to run duals, there is another thing you can do. I replaced my muffler with pipe to hear what it would sound like, real nice. You could use a flow through muffler too. either will reduce back pressure and gain more power. You can run a 2 barrel carb. A 2 barrel intake from a 56 do...

battery

my 49 needs a new battery. What size or what amp battery would be correct? Would a battery with more amps than stock be better or not? Thanks Bob
