It has been soaking with a thingy of diesel and ATF for a few days. I hope to go out tonight and try again. It is stuck enough that the thingy is not leaking past the rings like one normally would. Am I seeing that right? No downdraft tube but a PCV breather? Maybe?? either that or it fell off at some point in the past which would help explain the 2" of crud caked on. Well the #2 cylinder has a lot of trash/rust in it so we will have to pull it completely apart to see what we have. I found a 230 from a 58 pickup in Austin so I may go that route if this 218 is too bad. There is no interior to use as patterns so the door/side panels will be built from scratch. Dad ...
