can you put a 60s ford pu od trans behind a 49 plymouth flait head six,buddy saddle

Kind of doubt it. Not with out a whole bunch of work. However, there are "Mopar" OD trannys available from the '50's that bolt right up to the flat 6 with no modification whatsoever. I just put one in this winter. They aren't cheap, but higher gas mileage and lower RPM's are the payback.
