Hi Guys. I joined up awhile back and have got a ton of great info from here but this is my first post. I bought this sweet 49 January of this year and this is how she looked when i loaded her up to bring her home.

Here is a couple pics of me and my boys sanding her down to bare metal

We got the engine removed

And we got the engine rebuilt and painted and put back in

So far we have Dismantled the interior, removed all glass, removed all trim, sanded the car to bare metal, pulled dents, pulled engine and rebuilt it and painted it and put it back in. We have painted the firewall and inner fender wells. We have pulled All of the old wiring and started a complete rewire of the car. We have replaced the master cylinder, all wheel cylinders and brake lines. We have restored and painted the Fulton visor and Thermador swamp cooler.

We have also pulled the dash and prepped and painted it as well as all the interior window moldings.

The color of the car and the swamp cooler and the visor is Plymouth Cream and the color of the interior moldings and dash is Duplicolor Santa Fe Tan. As you can also see in some of these pics we have most of the car primed and have started spot filling low spots. All in all this is turning into a great build. I hope you guys dont mind the pics. And finally i do have one question. Is this a P-18?

Wow. I really enjoyed the pics. What a great project for you and your sons. Something they will always remember, I'm sure.
You have done alot of work. It will all be worth while the first time you take to the road. Looks like you are doing it right.

And, yes, you have P-18. If you look on the left side of the engine, there should be a number stamped in just below the head gasket.
Typicaly, it starts out with P18.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I'm in Pueblo. I also forgot to mention that i picked the car up for a cool $600
I need the following parts if anyone has them and also here is a list of some extras i have if anyone needs them.

I Need:
4 bumper bolts
hood release cable
2 bumper guards (I have 4 now but 2 of the 4 are bent pretty bad and have the bolt studs cut off)
ashtray and plastic that goes on the back of the front bench seat
Rear passenger door

I Have the following if anyone needs them or wants to trade for parts i need:
2 rocker panel moldings (They are dented here and there and 1 has screw holes from the past owner being lazy and not using the clips)

Hi:
I have an ashtray for the front seat back. The chrome spears are in nice shape. One of them has the slightest pitting. The lid is also very nice with very slight pitting. The plastic has no cracks but there is a scratch on the front. I don't know if it shows up in the photos. It should polish up nicely with some compounding. If your seat had an ashtray originally you will see 6 holes in a line where the three pieces would be mounted. The 2 screws for the ashtray are inside of it. What kind of shape are the fog lights in? Pics? I would take $20 and postage for the ashtray outright.
I hope that was a staged picture of you guys sanding the car, because you definitely should be wearing masks. Other than that you are a doing one heck of a great job. This is an experience the boys will always remember.
Enjoy,
Gerry

The picture is sort of posed. We had masks on but the wife wanted a picture of our faces so we took the masks off for about 5 minutes while she took pictures and when she was done we put them back on. As an interesting side note i learned that you can save countless hours of sanding by simply slathering the car in aircraft stripper out in the driveway. Wait about 45 minutes then pressure wash the car off and your down to bare metal. Anyway i am very interested in the ashtray. Let me know if i you want to trade for anything i have. If not i can either pay pal the $20 plus shipping to you or send off a money order for it.

Sorry to be so slow getting back to you about the front seat ash tray. If you still want it send me your address and $25. ($5 for postage) and I'll get it right out, in fact it is aready in a box ready to mail.I'm sure everyone would like to see the car when it is done. You seem to be making so pretty fast progress. You don't want to know how long I have been working on my car.

Thank you. I have sent you a PM with my info. As soon as i have yours i will get the payment right out to you. I am getting the 49 done quite fast and actually it should be allot further along but i keep adding things to the list i want to do. i had no plans when i started this project to rewire the whole car. Nor did i have any intention on replacing all the brake lines and wheel cylinders. And today i decided to put a brand new exhaust on her. Originally i was just going to replace the broken glass, give her a new paint job and leave the interior as it was.

I do still have the trim piece but i must apologize the pic of the trim piece posted is my new piece i just bought. I got the old one and the new one mixed up and took a pic of the wrong one. I will swap out pics tonight so you can see the old one. I does have some pitting but nothing that is not repairable.
