30th anniversary ideas

Post by Root Beer Stand » Wed Oct 15th, 2008 10:18

For some reason I remembered this weekend is our 30th anniversary ( ) and looking for something unique to do with and for the Mrs.

She isn't into the normal girly stuff like flowers/perfumes/spas etc but is most happy in jeans and T shirts playing with the grandkids and cooking out (this is of course only second to spending time with me LOL!)

Anyway I am not one to do the romantic stuff but would like to do something nice and somehow incorporate Lucille (our '49) into it.

Really don't want to stay in a motel somewhere but a drive would be cool

Ideas?

Thanks!

Anniversary

Post by p18plywood » Wed Oct 15th, 2008 2:56

For our 25th about a month ago I packed a lunch and drinks in the trunk of the bike(Honda GL) and mapped out a little ride to see a very old house (built 1693), something we are both interested in, It was beautiful sunny day, riding on secondary roads. There was a picnic table behind the house, so we had luch there. It was a perfect day and hardly cost anything. We have different work scheduals and we haven't had much time for riding, so we both really enjoyed this day.
A lot of women say they aren't looking for flowers and that like, but it is rare that they aren't pleased to get flowers on a special ocassion.
My two cents,
Gerry

Here is an idea I had since I posted:

One: go to dinner and invite the family (many riding in Lucille)

B: Ask a preacher friend of ours to be there

3: ask a DJ friend of mine who will be there to play (I just called him) Enrique Iglesias - Hero.... and dance with my wife

D: renew our vows for this landmark

Five: hope it works out, short time for the worlds greatist procrastinator!

The real date is Saturday but tomorrow evening is the plan........dj will be in town

Great idea Gerry!
Saturday is supposed to be real nice but cool. No places that old around but I do know a few secluded places with barns etc
Thanks!

All good ideas....my 30th is coming up in June 2009....need to get ahead of the game a little.

I'm sort of the "exotic" type you know. Took my wife to Dinosaur National Monument for our actual honeymoon back in 1979! Stayed in the Dinosaur Motel in Vernal, Utah.

As I look back at it ... it sort of fits me .... a real dinosaur these days it seems. However, we are still happily together 30 years later .... well .... 29 years and change.

A picnic in Rawlings, Wyoming might be nice. Or maybe an excursion to Carhenge in Nebraska. I bet she's thinking something more like Hawaii ... do they allow 1949 Plymouths in Hawaii?

Well, been under the weather for a few weeks, feeling a lot better this week by the way.
Been working almost all the time I am not sleeping, have several empty rentals trying to get up and rented before winter gets here in force and my day job (self employed) has seen the busiest year since I started by far.
Coupled together the last few months have been one great big cloudy blur.

How did it go you ask...........We were married Noverber 18th.......not October.......

Now I feel stupid, swear I thought this was November

Didn't forget! Just a little confused and caught it before I told her we were going out.
Had to make some calls and sound stupid to the preacher and DJ too :?

#-o Well... look at it this way. You're ahead of schedule with your plans. And you're right, you didn't forget... Just didn't know what month it currently was.

Hey!

It went over great!
I set it up for tonight and we just got back... A couple days late of the 18th but still a great time and a BIG surprize!!!

Last night the Mrs asked if I had a girlfriend. "Why?" I asked.. She said because I have making a lot of sneaky phone calls lately....

Let the Mrs look at the post to prove what I told her last night... "no I don't have a girlfriend"........LOL

She is still laughing about setting it up for last month!!!

Now she knows I love her but am a little stupid! LOL

Lucille didn't go for this one :( She is in the barn with a tractor behind her, didn't have time to get her out this evening and not raise questions
